What are some of the best ways to make money?

It is interesting thinking about what are some of the best ways to make money these days. I think it is a contemplation that preoccupies a lot of people, and sociologists suggest especially gen x-ers. Who strive for a work life balance and fantasize about early retirement.

Here are some of the most common ideas:

1. The Internet - People sense it is a gold mine, but are just not too sure how to make it work. Check the links at the bottom of this post for a few ideas.
2. Starting your own business - A lot of people talk about it, but few actually take the chance to get something worthwhile off the ground. Perhaps it is safer to dream than to do.
3. Saving - It comes down to personality and conditioning a lot of times, and for some people saving seems like the smartest way to make money.
4. Gearing - Negative gearing is still popular. And margin loans are up a percentage that would be scary if I bothered to research it for this post.
5. Inheritance - Believe it or not, but some people are just hanging out to make some money from the inevitable. But, you might be waiting a long time these days.

Personally, I believe that the road to wealth is paved with the trials and tribulations a long the path of small business. I think every person/family should have a skill they turn into a business, if they seek financial independence. While I know pragmatically you can achieve the same from corporate membership to the 9-5, I think not only is that a little against the spirit of most gen x-ers (and y’s by the way), but I think it is always limited, where a business is only so by your energy and inspiration (and capacity to absorb information and assimilate to the needs of your market).
